Kalou earns Chelsea replay

Salomon Kalou struck four minutes after coming off the bench to earn holders Chelsea a 1-1 draw in their FA Cup fourth- round tie at Everton.

Everton had much the better of the game, and had taken the lead through Louis Saha's 62nd minute header.

"We had all the play and possession and we are disappointed," said Everton captain Phil Neville. "We have played well against the top teams but we have to produce that sort of performance in the replay because that will be a very tough test.

"The manager (David Moyes) wanted more energy, to play at our tempo and get the ball forward with Saha up front. He caused them a lot of problems and we are really disappointed to concede that goal.

The last non-league side in the competition, Crawley Town, beat Torquay United of League Two at Plainmoor, a game both sides ended with ten men.

Matt Tubbs got the only goal after 39 minutes as Crawley became only the seventh non-league side ever to reach the fifth round.

Birmingham City looked like being the major Premier League casualties, but they came from 2-0 down to beat local rivals Coventry City 3-2.

Marlon King put Coventry ahead after 11 minutes, running by an injured Liam Ridgewell before firing in a low finish.

Richard Wood converted a Gary McSheffrey cross to make it 2-0, but a 30-yard David Bentley strike reduced the deficit before half-time.

Stuart Parnaby levelled from Alexander Hleb's cross midway through the second half, and Kevin Phillips nicked the winner with 17 minutes remaining.

Aston Villa survived the second-half dismissal of Nathan Baker to win their third game in a row, beating Blackburn Rovers. Ciaran Clark headed in a Barry Bannan corner after 10 minutes, and although Nikola Kalinic levelled eight minutes later, Robert Pires restored Vila's lead with a crisp half-volley and Nathan Delfouneso added a third before half-time.

Bolton Wanderers and Wigan Athletic drew 0-0 in the day's other all-Premier League clash.

A late Alan Tate own-goal gave Leyton Orient a 2-1 win at Swansea City to take them into the fifth round for the first time since 1982.

Chris Eagles scored twice as Burnley beat Burton Albion 3-1, while Ashley Barnes's 16th-minute strike was enough to give Brighton victory at Watford.

Sheffield Wednesday fell behind against Hereford, but came back to win 4-1, Darren Potter cancelling out Stuart Fleetwood's early goal before two Clinton Morrison penalties and a goal fro Jermaine Johnson completed the turnaround.

Shane Long scored the winner three minutes from time as Reading beat Stevenage 2-1.

Manchester United face Southampton in the day's evening kick-off.
