Valencia sign Brazilian striker Jonas from Gremio

Brazilian club Gremio of Porto Alegre announced on Monday the sale of striker Jonas Goncalves to Spanish giants Valencia.



According to Brazilian and Spanish media reports, Valencia will pay Gremio around 1.2 million euros (1.63 million dollars) for the 26 year-old forward, who will be able to play for Los Ches from next week on.



Vicente Martins, vice president of Gremio, said on Monday: "We wanted to keep him, but an offer from Spain has arrived, and Jonas says that it is the big challenge of his career."



Valencia are fourth in La Liga, and will face German team Schalke 04 in the round of 16 of the Champions League.
